Top Football Conferences in D3

Finding the best teams in DIII football is one thing and the best conference another. However, they have to go hand in hand and that is why we chose to use Simple Rating System to evaluate. The stat is simple, as the name suggests, and does a good job of evaluating teams across the country where it is difficult to do so with traditional metrics.

To kick things off, Simple Rating System (SRS) needs an explanation. SRS takes into account the average margin of victory for a team for the given time period and adds it to the strength of schedule. Strength of schedule is determined by calculating all opponents SRS through thousands of calculations and then averaging them.

To calculate the conference SRS, we added up the SRS of all member schools and then divided by the number of schools.
