State of DIII Baseball Pt. 2

The top teams in DIII baseball since 2018

Since 2018, there have been five different National Champions from all different states and four regions. However, there are some teams that are just always near the top of the heap and find ways to make it to the World Series and fight for the trophy time and time again.

This is part two of a series on the State of DIII Baseball so if you missed part one, click the link to see more about the league statistics and how they have evolved over the last six years.

To preface, in order to come up with a simple way (Repeat, simple) to compare team performance in the NCAA tournament, we devised a point system.

1 pt: Tournament Appearance

2 pts: Regional/Super Regional Final

3 pts: World Series Appearance (Final 8 teams)

4 pts: Championship Game Appearance

5 pts: National Championship

As you can see, the further a team gets each year in the tournament, the more points that they receive. A quick note to further illustrate, if a team wins the national championship in a given season, they get 15 total points for that postseason as they are credited with making it through each stage where points are awarded through our system.

Something else to mention for those that do not know, no tournament was held in 2020 due to the pandemic so naturally, these statistics do not include that year.

Now on to the good stuff.
